SEO Research with Claude or ChatGPT Over MCP

How to connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to your DataFlowSEO projects over MCP, and the questions that save the most time. Setup takes a few minutes.

Most SEO tools make you export a spreadsheet, open a chat and paste the data in. MCP skips that. It is a standard that lets an AI assistant read from, and run research in, an outside service. Connect DataFlowSEO once, and you can ask about your own saved research in plain language.

What you need

• A DataFlowSEO account with at least one project
• An AI client that supports custom connectors over MCP, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
• A balance above $0 if you want the assistant to run new research. Reading saved results does not need one

Connect in four steps

1. In DataFlowSEO, open MCP settings and copy the server address.
2. In your AI client, add a custom connector named DataFlowSEO. Choose the type Streamable HTTP and paste the address.
3. Sign in when the assistant opens the sign-in page.
4. Tick the projects the assistant may use, and connect.

Questions worth asking

For planning

• "Which keywords should I target next for my blog?"
• "Who are my main competitors, and which keywords do they rank for that I do not?"

For monitoring

• "Which of my tracked keywords dropped this week?"
• "What is the web saying about my brand compared with my rivals?"

For fixing

• "What are the biggest issues in my latest site audit, and what changed since the last crawl?"
• "Which of my backlinks look risky? Build a disavow file I can review."

For writing

• "Make a content brief for how to do a site audit, and score this draft against it."

What stays in your hands

Each client gets its own token, and you can revoke it at any time. The assistant only sees the projects you ticked. It cannot see your account settings or other people's data. Your balance is checked before every paid lookup, and you are charged only if it completes. Resetting your account disconnects every connected client.

A sensible way to start

Begin with read-only questions about research you already saved. That costs nothing and shows you what the assistant can do. When you are comfortable, ask it to run something new, with a small project first.
