SEO Tools for Freelancers and Agencies in India

A simple monthly routine for running SEO for clients in India: one project per client, rankings, audits, backlinks and a spending cap you control.

Running SEO for clients means doing the same handful of jobs again and again: check where each site ranks, find what is broken, watch the links, keep the content moving, and write it up. The tools matter less than the routine around them. Here is one that works, with the research done in DataFlowSEO.

Give every client a project

A project holds one client or site. Everything you run for them is saved there: keyword research, audits, rank checks, competitor analyses. Months later you can reopen any of it for free, which is handy when a client asks "what did we say in March?"

Month one: a baseline

Before you change anything, record where the client stands.

  1. Crawl the site with a site audit. The health score and the issue list are your starting point.
  2. Add 30 to 50 keywords to rank tracking, with up to three competitors in the same check.
  3. Run a domain overview for the client and for their closest rival, so you know the gap.
  4. Take a backlink snapshot with the backlink checker. Every analysis is saved as a version, so you can compare later.

Every month after that

  • Re-run rank tracking and note what moved and why
  • Fix the next batch of audit issues, then re-check those pages
  • Compare this month's backlink version with last month's and chase lost links
  • Make one or two content briefs for the next posts
  • Send a short report: what changed, what you did, what comes next

Keep the cost under control

Agencies need to know what each client costs. Two features help here. The price of a lookup shows before you run it, so you can quote with confidence. And every schedule has a spending limit per run: if a run would pass it, the run is skipped and the schedule pauses. Nothing is scheduled unless you turn it on.

Why uneven work suits pay as you go

Some months you onboard three clients and run a lot. Other months you only maintain. Credit does not expire, so a quiet month costs nothing and the balance is there when the next client signs. If you want to compare this with a monthly plan, read Ahrefs alternatives for Indian SEO freelancers.

Ask an assistant to help with the report

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor over MCP and ask things like "what changed in my tracked keywords this week?" or "compare my client's backlinks with their main competitor". The answer comes from the saved research in that project. We show how in SEO research with Claude or ChatGPT.
