Rank tracking
Follow where your sites rank on Google for the keywords that matter, see every move and get an email when one changes.
Rank tracking answers a simple question: for the keywords that matter to you, where does your site appear on Google, and what changed since last time? You choose the keywords, run a check whenever you like, and every check is kept so the trend is always there.
Track a site
Open Rank Tracking
Choose it under Research in the left sidebar. A project can track several sites (up to 20), and the list shows each one's keywords and how many moved.
Add the website
Enter the site you want to look for in Google, such as
example.com. Optionally add up to three competitors: they are found in the same search results, so following them adds no cost.Add keywords
Paste a list (up to 100 at a time, 250 per site) and choose the country, language and device, desktop or mobile. A keyword already tracked for the same market and device is skipped.
Run a check
Press Check now. The price is shown first. Searches you already have saved are free, and the check keeps running if you leave the page.
Read the results
| Column | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Position | Where the site ranks for the keyword. "Not in the top 100" means it was not in the first 100 results that were read. |
| Change | How far it moved since the previous check: up, down, new in the results or lost from them. |
| Best | The best position it has reached since you started tracking. |
| Ranking page | The page of your site that ranks for the keyword. |
| Competitors | Where each followed competitor ranks for the same keyword. |
Open a keyword to see its position history as a trend chart, with your competitors alongside. Each check is saved, so the history never needs to be fetched again.
Email alerts and scheduled checks
By default a check runs only when you press Check now. To make it repeat, open Schedule on the site's page; the size of move worth an email is set under Edit:
- Repeat daily or weekly. Nothing is ever scheduled unless you switch it on.
- Email me when a keyword moves by a number of positions you choose (5 by default, up to 50). The email also tells you when a keyword enters the results or falls out of them.
- Spending limit per run (optional). If a run would cost more than the limit, it is skipped and the schedule pauses instead of spending your credit.
What it costs
Each keyword you check is one lookup, so checking 40 keywords is 40 lookups, and the price shown is for the keywords that need a new search. A keyword whose results you already have saved is free, and a failed lookup is never charged. Credit top-ups start at $10. See Credits and billing.
Use it from an AI assistant
Your connected AI assistant can list your tracked sites, read positions and history, start tracking keywords for a site (free) and run a check, for example *"Which of my keywords dropped this week?"*.
